Candee:

We welcome you to SOLACE: Soul+ Grief. I'm glad you're here. I'm Candee Lucas, a Jesuit-trained Catholic chaplain and spiritual director, and I've been involved with a bereavement ministry since 2009. We know that loss can make profound changes in people's lives. We understand how difficult it is to travel this path of grief and how important and monumental the loss of a loved one can be. So we created this podcast to help you walk with God as you grieve your losses; understand what's happening in your heart and soul as you grieve; to be available in the best way we can to accompany you on this journey. You're always welcome in this circle of healing, love and support. This is what is already known. Remember always, even in the depths of your grief, that you are loved by God. If you reread Hosea 11, you will hear his words to you-- I fell in love with you when you were still a child and I have called you my child ever since. Thus you were called. But you went your own way. You offered sacrifice to carved images. I drew you with human ties, with cords of love, but I seemed to you as one who imposed a yoke on your jaws, though I was offering you food. I fell in love with you when you were still a child and I have called you my son ever since. Thus you were called, but you went your own way and made sacrifice and offerings to carved images. I have pampered you, taking you in my arms, but you have ignored my healing care. I drew you with human ties, with cords of love, but I seemed to you as one who imposed a yoke on your jaws though I was offering you food.

Candee:

This is what is already known that God chose you, that he chooses you every day. He chooses you to love. He chooses you to be his own dear child In your grief. Sometimes His face seems far away or clouded, but His voice still exists in your heart and you should stop and take a listen, be very still, listen for that voice, open your heart a little wider if that is required, and hear Him speak to you, experience that healing love, the healing love He offers you, and get lost in the pool of His eyes as they gaze upon you. Keep ever the message close to your heart that you are loved, that His love is unbounded and everlasting and accompanies you on your daily journey through grief, as you remind and remember your lost loved one. See if you can find Him there. It will reward you again and again To call His name, reach out your hand to Him, offer praise, offer love, and He will offer you sustenance. That concludes another episode.
